Life Challenges

Most experts agree that our nation is now enduring a steep economic downturn causing countless numbers of people to lose their jobs. When people lose their jobs they often develop low self-efficacy and question their ability to accomplish anything. People who lose jobs often go through a cycle similar to the five stages of grief (denial/isolation, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance) as described by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. The effects of the grief cycle can include:

  • Loss of sense of control
  • Loss of security and status
  • Loss of sense of belonging (no longer belonging to an organization)
  • Self-doubt
  • Uncertainty about the future

If you are experiencing the loss of a job or have uncertainty about your future, it may be time to seek professional help.

Everyone goes through life challenges at one time or another. Whether these challenges involve personal, career, relationship or spiritual transitions, they can be powerful and stressful. With professional help, you can often move through them more quickly and carry on with more confidence, success and meaning in your life.
